We all want to make sure that we provide what our family needs everyday. The most basic probably would be the food and house. For some, providing all these on a daily and monthly basis entail juggling two-three jobs, working overtime, or making money over a small business online. I know it is difficult to get through all these hardships because I have experienced them myself. We all have our own fair share of struggles but we can simply mitigate them by helping each other to get into an opportunity that gives us a breather. As I have been thinking of ways how I can easily get through the hassle and bustle of morning commutes, I had a sudden epiphany of working at home set up. Of course, at first, I was reluctant with my idea unless I have tried it myself. I looked and searched for ESL companies that pay $5 above until I discovered few of them. I gave it a try and I didn't expect how much my effort and the company paid me. It was indeed and literally my efforts paid off!
At that time, I cancelled all my applications to big companies around because I can stay within the comfort of my home earning more than what I have used to earn in my previous companies.
Here are the list of the ESL companies I recommend that can surely give you a quick escape to the hardships you experience today.
1. International Schooling

This is probably the first ESL company that I discovered who offers $5 hourly rate. They pay USD instead of SGD which is way bigger when you convert to PHP. They cater to students all around the globe but popularly known to students around Singapore; hence, most of the students are Singaporeans.
The company is very unique from other ESL companies around since they have their own Learning Management System and course curriculum. It seems like the subjects that they offer are elective courses which are specifically designed to augment and bolster the learning grasp of the students by immersing them in other areas of studies.
They hire teachers across all majors because of the plethora of courses that they offer. Surely, there is a seat for you here even you are a business graduate, HRM graduate or psychology graduate.

2. Vnaya
HR hr@vnaya.com
This is a US based company. The company focuses on the children's school curriculum which is relative to the schools they are attending. The requisites before you get to have your first student is to familiarize which curriculum you would want to pan your focus. During my first month, I focused on the Australian curriculum so most of my students were from Australia . Of course, you don't need to be a master of all trades by teaching students across all levels. I specifically mentioned that I was comfortable teaching grades 7-10 which they actually gave as requested.
Vnaya caters to students globally. Most of the students that I met were from Persian Gulf Countries, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and USA. Most of them were kind and able to communicate effectively in English. Actually, I really had trouble what to teach every time I would have classes with those from English speaking countries. It seemed like they have exhibited learning grasp about tenses and subject verb agreement. For this reason, I decided to focus on developing their writing skills which was really helpful for them. Vnaya is using CISCO to conduct their classes. It is almost the same with zoom, loom and google classroom. The only thing that has made the company different from the others is that they prefer teachers to engage using audio classes. The rate starts at PHP200-250 which makes you lucky enough when they offer you PHP250 starting rate.

3. Novakid Once you click the name, it will redirect you to their application form. Novakid is a Moscow based company. They cater to students spanning across Europe and Asia. As of this writing, they are extending their services to all countries in Asia and Latin America. There is indeed a bright spectrum of culture here since you will get a chance to meet students from nooks and corners of the world Novakid has its own unique platform. Unlike the other ESL companies that compel you to download their platforms which, basically, add to the burden of your limited computer memory, Novakid only uses its site to conduct classes. This is very ideal to those who don't have a minimum computer benchmark requirement. The only thing that you should always make sure is a fast and reliable internet speed. Novakid's rate starts at $5. However, this depends on the number of students you have in an hour. Say, you have 2 students for every 25 minute class, this hits you a windfall of getting $5 instantly. You can withdraw your earnings anytime you wish so you don't need to spend days of waiting before the company gives you your salary.

4. Modern Language Center
jcsalazar@modernlanguagecenter.com
This is a Mexico based company. The company focuses on providing Business English Courses to their students. Their students profile are mostly professionals who would want to improve and sharpen their English communication skills. You would probably be surprised when you meet lawyers in class, engineers. health professionals and many more.
The company uses google meet to conduct classes but you will be given a leeway to use your accounts on loom, zoom and other platforms. The class comes in group and it lasts for an hour and 30 minutes. Imagine how much you would probably get even you just request for 4 sessions with them everyday. Let's do that math: 4x $5 = $20 plus the excess 30 minutes is sure enough you have just hit a jackpot----- everyday!
Although the company focuses more on Business English, you will be required to introduce new concepts in English to augment the students' learning potential. For instance, when we were discussing about parts of an email, I introduced them to email writing and employing transitional words in writing paragraphs. In this way, my students' have learned not just about the realms of Business English but also the basic tenets in writing effective paragraphs as well.

There are still a lot to add here but they might be in another categories so tune in on my next post.
We will talk about Speex, SkyEng, Black 'N White English and a lot more. The things you should always prepare even some companies are not asking for any requirements yet are the following. a. Video Intro b. Audio Intro c. Resume When you already have these, you can directly drop them to the HR's email address. However, just to be really sure, please do save a video of your class episode that you think is the best. Good luck!
